Gallery 2110 (Sacramento Art Complex) @ 2110 K Street converting to Outlet Coworking

Gallery 2110 and the Sacramento Art Complex, located at 2110 K Street in Midtown Sacramento, has become well known as a gallery for diverse types of artists to both craft and display their wide-ranging works over the past seven years.  Not only does the building offer up to twenty-six individual art studios, each with glass display windows, but it also facilitates four fully operational art gallery spaces.  The primary gallery is located off the main entrance facing K Street.  A smaller Gallery also exists in a second floor loft.  Additionally, both the side yard and back patio facilitate the display of outdoor art and sculptures.

Ever growing streams of art aficionados and random locals have enjoyed Second Saturdays, where The Sacramento Art Complex and Gallery 2110 come alive with a special vibrancy unique unto itself.  Alas, just as the weather beckons a turn from summer to fall; change is in the air for the Complex as well.  For so long, this space was home to bright and passionate artists of all kinds.  Its dedication to the pursuit of excellence and artistry was known far and wide.  Only now, the focus will adjust from the sole creation and display of art in its purest form to another kind of creativity.

Local entrepreneurs, Travis and Harrison Reich, are launching a high-end co-working space at 2110 K Street that will cater to a wide range of business professionals and start-ups alike, while maintaining an artistic flair.  Existing artists will be encouraged to remain as tenants to help create a blended tapestry of disciplines in keeping with the flavor of Midtown Sacramento itself.  Already successful co-working operations in Midtown Sacramento include Urban Hive, Hacker Lab and Capsity, which were recently ranked 7th, 9th, and 24th in a national survey of 75 co-working spaces.

Outlet Coworking will offer the highest quality private offices, group working areas and collaborative work space available in Midtown Sacramento.  It will also be the largest of its kind with almost 10,000 square feet, second only to Hacker Lab’s 10,500 square feet, which houses a significant portion of maker space.  This latest facility to come online will convert the first floor gallery into shared work space, but will maintain its gallery feel by continuing to showcase rotating local art and retaining the Second Saturday art walk tradition.  In addition to several lounges, conference rooms, full kitchen, covered back patio and outdoor sculpture garden, local coffee and craft beers will be flowing on tap at no additional cost for members.

In addition to the high quality improvements where Outlet Coworking will be housed, its physical address, in the absolute center of Midtown Sacramento, is premier as well.  Only one block away is the popular MAARS Building with a plethora of hot spots already being enjoyed by professionals and artists who will be attracted to this new space.  As for nearby housing and other services, 140 rental units are planned atop a 40,000 square foot Whole Foods urban grocery store, to be constructed in 2016, only one block away in another direction.  Midtown is changing, but may it never lose its own special charisma and charm.

The grand opening of Outlet Coworking is scheduled for January 1, 2015.  The eldest brother of the two partners, Travis Reich, owns a property management firm and is currently developing residential lots.  Harrison Reich is the Production Director and Co-Founder of Plaid Zebra Films.  He is also the drummer in the popular Sacramento rock band called The Old Screen Door.  In keeping with the theme of a family business, sister Carly Reich will be running the day to day operations.

A special thanks to Ben Van der Meer (Sacramento Business Journal) who published an article about the Eastern Star Temple, also in Midtown Sacramento.  The Reich brothers read the article and requested a tour of the historic Eastern Star facility, which comprises 31,500 square feet on three primary floors.  Due to the significant upgrades required to bring the Star building up to code, it made sense to start with something a bit smaller and more modern.  Enter 2110 K Street, a “Mid-Century Modern” designed structure, and voila… an excellent alternative.
